Use an online mapping website to locate new fishing spots such as Google Maps, Map Quest, Yahoo Maps, and others. While looking at a new fishing site, you can toggle between Satellite, Terrain, and Map. Using these maps you can write down directions and you can zoom on a lake or river to note shallow and deep areas.
The above picture is from Google Map and it's a snap shut of the Lachine dock, Montreal, Quebec. The dark blue that you see should be a new fishing spot to explore for walleye! Every Fall I spend some good times in this area with my fishing buddy Marc Poirier - Walleye fishing angler.

Walleye with Garlics Wine Sauce
1 ounce sliced white mushrooms
1 (6 to 8-ounce) walleye fillet
1 ounce diced tomatoes
2 tablespoons butter
6 ounces linguine, cooked
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Flour, for dredging
Garlic Wine Sauce, recipe follows
Lemon wedges, for garnish
Season both sides of the walleye with salt and ground black pepper. Coat both sides of the walleye fillet with flour. Heat the butter in a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and cook the walleye on one side for 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden. Turn the fillet over and cook until fish is opaque and cooked through. Remove to a plate and keep warm. Add the sliced mushrooms and diced tomatoes to the fish pan and cook until mushrooms are golden and any liquid has evaporated. Add some of the garlic wine sauce and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Serve the fish over linguine and top with the pan sauce. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

Walleye Fishing tip #3 - Where to locate trophy walleye
The big trophy Walleyes will be down between 15 and 35 feet. They will more likely be located in deep holes that are close to shore. So if you see a bay with thick weeds and then it drops off really deep, that's where the trophy walleyes are hiding.

Walleye Fishing tip #2 - How to fillet a walleye
Here is the best way to fillet a walleye:
1. Start with fish on edge of table with back towards you
2. Lift up the fins
3. Cut an angle not more than half way.
4. Turn knife and follow back bone
5. Follow backbone all the way to the tail
6. Put fillet rib side down, push ribs flat with finger tips. Lift back up.
7. To view rib cut above rib ends with knife flat on table.
8. Ribs should be out but it takes practice and be careful.
9. Cut finger slot close to tail for better grip.
10. With knife flat on table, cut along the skin. Stop at 1/2 inch from end.
11. Turn blade towards tail with a good 2 inches of skin to stay on.
12. Rip skin as opposed to cutting. This is much easier.
13. In some fishing area, skin must be attached for transport or storage.
If you are planning to have a lot of walleyes to fillet, look at the Rapala Electric Knifes.

Walleye Fishing tip #1 -Two fishing rod sets
I got so many walleye fishing tips that I didn't know where to start from? Let's start with a basic walleye fishing tip. If you are any serious about your walleye fishing trip, you must considered to bring at least two complete fishing rods (rod & reel). You will use one rod for trolling purpose. When trolling for long periods, the bait or the lure can rotate around his axis, line-twist will then work his way up the line. A swivel can help to avoid line-twist!
The second line will be used for casting and jigging purposes. With two fishing lines set, you will avoid to try to jig with a line-twist. If you are really serious about walleye fishing (like me!), you should have three fishing lines : trolling, casting and jigging.
